Hendrix Handel and Whodini

Some words and photos lot more photos than words well looks more apart from top few photos not in the right order hope you enjoy ;-)   Off for a walk through West end starting at Hanover Square or whats left of it after a very Crossrail has had its way with it.  Then along Brook Street to find Jimi Hendrix old flat No 23 its above Joe Molone sorta heaven scent, down the road for a couple of pics of Claridges back down to Jimis through alley past Victories not so Secret shop into Governor Street past Browns across Regent Street into Fouberts Place and Carnaby Street.  A bit of a shadow of itself but still popular with tourists so a plug for that, along Carnaby Street took a few photos finally into Peter Street to Berwick Street market into Walkers Court still not completely sanitised ;-) for some window shopping sic into Rupert Street no windows bought to much of a pane the food market was very busy but didn't stop across Shaftsbury Avenue along to Gerrard Street and the start of Chinatown and the swinging lanterns strung overhead. And Loony supermarkets decided to bypass Leicester Square and head up  Long Acre to Convent Garden down James Street past the human statues being ignored by most passers by rather funny. A rather cold and windy square today but a street entertainer was just starting to perform his Houdini routine getting someone from the rather limited amount of onlookers to wrap him in chains and rope, after he had put on a very straight jacket and got another spectator to start a stop watch. Our bold escapologist mounted a small box and started to writhe and wriggle his way out of his bonds as we held our breath in 3minutes with a great leap to the ground our hero was free and passing the hat round, as i thought it would be a good time to look around the Church of St Paul's (The Actors) Church. So past the rearing horse bronze statue in the little church garden into building with wooden and stone plagues with names of great actors who have died over the years fixed round the walls. So many household names took some photos and then out to the square as another entertainer was just starting his act putting a woman in a bag didn't wait to see if she came out again.  Had a mooch around the inside area with shops and stalls selling mainly jewellery and souvenir's and a woman opera singer performing on the lower level thought it was a duff record at first oops, didn't have time to visit the Transport Museum but think its worth a look, out of the gardens into Tavistock Street past the Lyceum to the Strand to catch the bus home from just outside the Waldorf salad oops Hotel a interesting afternoon out ;-)  Chris Lee
